Tips To A Hassle Free Low Protein Children’s Party

Planning a party can be overwhelming. There is so much to do and think about that it can literally make your brain hurt! It’s even worse if it’s your first party for your child with an Inherited Metabolic Condition that you are planning. But you don’t have to worry because we’ve sharing here some fantastic tips to get you through this stressful time.
When we think about a party, menu is on top of the agenda. Keep the menu simple – when it comes to creating party food for kids, make sure it’s fun at the same time it’s simple to assemble. It really doesn’t need to be anything complicated to keep them happy. Create three or four big platters and then let children pick and choose what they want. Kids are attracted to bright colours and fun, so here are simple ways to make the food feel special:
- Veggies & dips always add lots of colour to a table. A platter of crunchy carrots, cucumber sticks and peppers around a bowl of yummy suitable low protein cheese spread or guacamole is sure to be a hit.

- Use a cookie cutter to create fun shaped sandwiches with Promin Low Protein Bread and Violife Cheese Slices or simply decorate the slices with free vegetables.

- Pop the food on sticks so it’s easy for little hands to pick up, and you don’t need to provide cutlery. Why not make fruit skewers with strawberries, kiwi and melon or a savoury version using suitable vegan cheese, tomatoes and olives. Ensure the children are closely monitored to prevent any choking hazards.

- Mini pizzas are bound to be a hit with the children. Pizza and parties are a perfect match!

- Low Protein Hot Chocolate is the perfect addition to the celebrations. Top it off with vegetarian marshmallows for a delightful finishing touch.

- We all know kids will make a beeline for the cupcakes and sweet treats. This can be as simple as a plate of cupcakes or mini bowls of suitable vegan jelly, but you could add a little more fun by creating a ‘pick & mix sweetie station’ using vegan/vegetarian/halal sweets. Just make sure it’s supervised!

- Most importantly, always choose food that you can make in advance and serve cold. Coordinating a room full of children is hard enough without worrying about oven times.
We really hope these tips lend a helping hand. Have lots of fun planning your little one’s party and remember, at least you have a whole year before you need to do it all over again!
